If you're stopped...
If you're stopped by the police...
1: Remain calm.
2: Keep both hands on the steering wheel until the officer arrives and avoid movements which can be considered suspicious, such as reaching under the seat, reaching into the back seat, etc.
3: Follow the officer's instructions.
Always be prepared...
1: Always know where to find your license and registration.
2: When you get a new resgistration, take the old one out to avoid confusion.
Preparation can save both you and the officer time as well as prevent citations.
It is the policy of the Melbourne Village Police Department to explain the reason for any traffic stop.
